A Continental Airlines 737 crashed and then exploded into flames in Denver on Saturday. Fortunately, the more than 100 people aboard survived, and the 38 injured are reported to be improving. Turns out, most passengers and crews do survive plane crashes.

Retailers are making last-ditch efforts to entice shoppers to crack open their wallets. Some are cutting prices by as much as 75 percent. Many Macy's department stores are open 24-hours until Christmas Eve. It still may not be enough to salvage the season for retailers.
